I am willing to travel overseas for the right job! Seasonal work would best suit me for now, but if I loved it, I would of course be willing to emigrate or move!
Qualifications

I have 15 years on experience working in the industry. I have done a bit of everything! I currently only have my BHS stage 1 exam as I have never struggled to get work without any more qualifications. For the right job I’d be more than happy to do the rest of my exams but at current I have never needed them to get the jobs I have wanted.

BHS Exams

BHS Stage 1

Duties of Current Occupation

All aspects of yard work, rehabilitation, retraining, office work, training apprentices and work experience students, open days, race days etc...

Equine Work Experience

Worked on large yards for many years, I am efficient and have very good attention to detail! My standards are high when it comes to looking after the horse and the environment it lives in. I have also owned my own horses for 18 years! I currently just have my retired Connemara who is now 27, I have had him for 15 years! I currently work for The British Thoroughbred Retraining Centre where I have been for the last 5 years.

Specialities

I have worked with retired race horses (thoroughbreds) for the last 5 years, previous to this I have worked on private showing and event yards, and large scale livery yards. I have done pretty much every job role there is within the equine industry, stable staff, groom, rider/groom, work rider, all aspects of equestrian admin work, apprentice training, all sides of rehabilitation and retraining. I have team leading experience and a very high standard of turnout!

Type of Ride Work

I have done all sorts of riding, from ground work (long reining/lungeing) to backing and breaking, schooling, hacking, jumping. From 11.2 ponies to 17hand event horses. I owned my own ex racehorse for 5 years before he was sadly PTS. We used to enjoy a good gallop together, local shows, school and hacking and a bit of jumping when he was still capable! I’m used to sharp horses, I can sit a buck (or 5) and I am willing to ride anything that isn’t completely dangerous.

Competition Details

I have been a competition groom for many years, first in the showing world, flat showing and then workers. I then went on to be a BE groom and have gone up through the levels, I currently still groom for the same family 14 years on, as well as my job at the BTRC.
