Equine Work Experience

I have done both paid and volunteered work in two stables, Barton Equestrian centre and Jane Ingram Equestrian centre. During my time at these stables I carried out multiple duties such as; mucking out, bedding down and bedding up. Feeding and bathing the horses (which included carrying out basic health checks to look for lumps, bumps, cuts and grazes that could indicate an injury). In addition, I also exercised the horses through lunging, walking, trotting, cantering, jumping and hacking. I also carried out other duties such as tack cleaning, tacking up before a ride or exercise and untacking after. Alongside this, I applied and removed horses rugs when necessary. I groomed, fed and turned in and out stallions, mare and foals in and out of the field’s, stables, pens and stalls. I also handled horses for vet checks and the farrier. Lastly, I lead horses during riding lessons for beginner and nervous riders and carried out both hand grazing and normal grazing when needed.

Specialities

I turn out to high standard, I have fast past mucking out skills and I always keep a tidy yard. I have also had stallion handling experience and I have had experience leading a team and in a team. In addition, I have work in some riding schools as a volunteer and had to handle broodmares on a regular basis.
