Equine Work Experience
I’ve volunteered at a riding school where we’d basically do all the daily jobs. i.e. mucking out, turning out and bringing in, tacking up, feeding. Additionally, working here I had to set up a dressage arena every weekend as the yard held unaffiliated dressage comps every week. I’m very particular with mucking out and I like to make sure that the horses are given the best care and welfare they can.
I’ve had experience with horses since I was 4. I started riding at 4 and volunteering at 8. I’m a fairly confident rider but I’ve had a years break recently which has affected my balance and fitness but nothing that shouldn’t take too long to fix.
I went to college at SMB College Group where I completed Level 2 Horse Care and Level 3 Equine Management along with the Top up year. During my time at college I learned about how to manage a hard up to industry standard. Here I gained experience with proper competition turnout, loading, appropriate tack and the standards that should be met.
Specialities
I have experience handling youngsters and 4* dressage horses. Personally, I have never had the opportunity to work with stallions, foals, and broodmares but I’m always looking to find ways to broaden my skills and experience so would be open to training.
Type of Ride Work
I have ridden since I was 4 but I’ve only really ridden in riding schools. I’ve ridden green horses, young horses, old horses. I’m confident with flat work but I lost my confidence two years ago in jumping.
I’ve done competitions here and there but these were just college competitions.
Competition Details
I’ve taken part in competitions within my college and I also gained experience setting up competitions and where I volunteered we would often set up the dressage arena for the following day as they held dressage competitions weekly
