Duties of Current Occupation

Responsible for all aspects of patient recovery, accommodation, surgical theaters, treatment rooms and dispensaries. Assisted in the safe handling of animals and infection control for specialized veterinary procedures.

Equine Work Experience

I have been responsible for assisting with the care of up to 4 horses at a local yard all horses belonging to one owner. I often help out during the week and weekends in exchange for riding lessons, assisting with their daily care. Including restricting grazing for one pony that is prone to laminitis and cooling down her horse once she has finished riding him. When her and her family go away on holiday, I am solely responsible for the ponies, including turning them out into paddocks, feeding, grooming, mucking out, etc.

Specialities

I am more than happy dealing with horses and ponies. I have dealt with geldings mostly, but my own displays a lot of stallion behaviour, food aggression, bucking and rearing. With anything I am yet to learn, I am more than willing to be taught by anyone who can help further my skills.

Type of Ride Work

Am happy in walk and trot but could really do with some more schooling. Due to not having a pony that I can ride properly with the horse owner I help, I have been limited to what riding I can do. However I am happy and willing to learn.

Competition Details

I have been a groom at many competitions including dressage and low level show jumping.
