By Vaughn Bolder. A short read ebook following the author's adventures breaking into the world of horses and learning from them how to be a horseman.
I worked at The Horse Trust in Buckinghamshire for a while. Here I looked after every type of horse, from small rescue ponies to large retired army horses.
A lot of the animals needed medication and treatment as they were older, so it was important to time manage and ensure the correct horses had the correct feed.
I worked specifically with LoveGood, the last Queen Mother’s Race horse, so have experience with large thoroughbreds.
I spent a lot of time doing daily tasks such as mucking in and out, turn out, health and grooming of horses, daily checks, cleaning tack, ensuring the school yard was clean etc.
I’ve been a rider from a young age. My auntie owned horses to learnt with her, but also had private lessons into my teenage years.
I spent a majority of my riding career on hacks, and never showed.
