Qualifications

I have 12 GCSEs, grades A/A*, including English, Maths and Triple Science. I completed my A-levels in 2016, achieving A* in Biology, A* in Maths, and A in Chemistry. I am fluent in English (native), and speak some French (GCSE). I also have a Sports Leadership qualification which I completed at high school, allowing me to design and lead sports and activities for children of all ages. I am currently learning to drive, and am planning on completing first aid qualifications for humans and animals

Duties of Current Occupation

Answering phones, booking appointments and taking notes regarding health conditions and concerns from clients / owners. I volunteer at a greyhound kennels, walking the dogs on-lead and keeping them safe and controlled, and at a cat rescue shelter.

Equine Work Experience

Work experience at Wimbledon Village Stables, 2019. Prior work experience completed in 2016 at my local City Farm included some equine experience as well as work with cows, sheep and goats. I am confident around large animals. In July 2019 I volunteered at an animal sanctuary in Spain, which included work with a semi-wild herd of 14 horses (alongside other animals including pigs, goats and dogs). I am confident around horses, able to groom and tack up, as well as muck out stables. I have shadowed an equine vet (at Bell Equine Veterinary Practice), gaining further insight into horse ownership and care, as well as the common ailments which can affect both retired and working horses. During my time here, I was able to view and participate in handling of an unwell neonatal foal, as well as assist in a lameness examination. Whilst I have relatively little formal experience, I am passionate about animal welfare and wellbeing, and am keen to develop my equine skills and knowledge further.

Specialities

Working with both animals and members of the public, including young, elderly and foreign clients with concerns about their animals. Having worked in rescue shelters for dogs and cats, I feel confident handling unpredictable animals with traumatic backgrounds, as well as working with them regularly to facilitate rehabilitation prior to rehoming. I have excellent organisational skills, time-keeping, and work well both independently and as part of a team. I am hard-working and enjoy learning.

Type of Ride Work

I have not ridden for many years due to financial commitments. Having completed a few ‘intensive courses’ as a teenager, I was signed off as being competent in walk and trot. However, riding is something I would love to get back into if at all possible.
