Lee Valley Riding Centre: I was a groom at Lee Valley for about a year. During my time there I was able to work on my jumping. My main duties where mucking out, tacking up for lessons, feeding and hating, turn out and assisting in Have a Go lessons.

Crossoaks Equestrian: this is where I currently work and I am an apprentice. My main responsibilities are tacking up, turn out, mucking out and general yard work, setting up jumps and going to shows.

Lakeside Equestrian Centre; while at Lakeside I worked with fully fit competition horses, foals, young horses and stallions. I had the usual yard duties (mucking out, haying, feeding ) as well as running the Sunday shifts, making fields and doing field checks.

Specialities

Mucking out: I can muck out shaving, wood pellet, and straw beds to a high standard and have mucked out deep litter and full muck out beds. lunging: I am confident with using a pessoa, bungie, sided rains and roller as well as lunging young horses and stallions. Grooming: I have had the opportunity to groom to a competition standard and improve on my mane pulling and trimming skills. Bandaging: stable bandages and travel bandages

Type of Ride Work

I have jumped up to 1m and have had the privilege of taking part in dressage clinics at Lakeside where I have been able to develop my riding skills further including leg yeilding, shoulder in and basic exercises to help strengthen horses under saddle.

Competition Details

I haven’t done any competing but I have been to a couple shows, so I am able to groom to a competition / show standard and know how to manage my time at a show to make sure that all the horses are ready on time.
