Equine Work Experience

I have been in a riding school since I was 7 until 9 and then had to stop. I started again at 15 and had weekly lessons since then. I started Writtle university College September 2019 and have had weekly lessons at college as well. I studied a Level 2 horse management course and achieved a Distinction level grade and am on a Level 3 Equine management course currently (online). I have since left the riding school but had done two showjumping shows while there. I have had two different loans, my current one is a 14.3hh Irish Sport horse that is very spooky. He has given me a lot of confidence since starting to ride him in September 2020.

At Writtle I have basic training with foals, young stock and pregnant mares , I have lunged, plaited, bandaged, long-reined.

Type of Ride Work

I have done a lot of flat work, trying to improve my position the yard my loan is on has no school so this has proven difficult. We have mostly been hacking on the roads, with less opportunities to go on the fields as they are too muddy right now. I have done some showjumping but would need work on this but have not done anyone XC training.

Competition Details

I have done only two showjumping shows at my old riding school but have plans to get out as much as I can this year. I have just bought a foal that I plan to produce to be a show jumper in the future so I am eager to gain experience! I have also booked my stage 1 BHS exam which is in May of next year.
