Equine Work Experience
I have been riding since 2010 and began volunteering at my local riding school; I was responsible for the care of the horses and their equipment, yard maintenance and assisting with lessons. In 2012 I enrolled at Berkshire College of Agriculture to study Horse Management. Throughout the 4 years, I had furthered my riding immeasurably, expanded my knowledge of horse care and welfare, and gained valuable experience from working in a variety of events. During this time, I was caring for a stallion back home, I was responsible for his welfare and schooling. In 2016 I gained shared ownership of a horse who required physiotherapy due to a previous injury, I worked along side professionals to get her back into work. Since her recovery I have been schooling, competing and caring for her. In 2018 I began employment at my local riding school as yard staff and instructor, teaching people of all ages and abilities, schooling horses and assisting with clients training for their BHS exams.
Specialities
During my years working in the equine industry I have discovered a love of helping and supporting others. My local riding school and I worked with schools to support children with learning and behavioral difficulties. Currently I am supporting a rehabilitation and supported living center by voluntarily welcoming clients to spend time with myself and the horses. This has been extremely positive for them and has contributed to their mental well being. In return I have found this very rewarding.
Type of Ride Work
Throughout the duration of my years riding at my local riding school, Berkshire College of Agriculture and riding horses in my care, I have experienced a variety of ride work. This includes; flat work, dressage schooling, flat integrated jump work (pole work and progression to jumping), jumping horses over a variety of fences in grids and courses up to 75cm, Cross Country jumping and hacking. I participate in these types of ride work regularly.
Competition Details
I have been participating in local shows since 2017 with my shared ownership horse. I have competed in Dressage, Working Hunter, Showing and Showjumping with very good progressive results.
I have also been employed as competition and equine event staff. Throughout my education at Berkshire College of Agriculture I assisted with several events such as; Windsor Qualifiers and Regional Horse Trials. Along with two fellow students, I had organized a successful Clear Round Showjumping event.
