Qualifications
I have my levels 1-3 ABRS exams in stable management and riding.
Duties of Current Occupation
I have owned horses since I was 6, but coming from a non-horsey background I had to learn quickly to do everything for myself. I am a competent and capable rider experienced with all sorts of horses - but I mainly enjoy working with youngsters.
Equine Work Experience
I have ridden and owned my own horses since the age of 6, despite coming from a non-horsey family. Because of this, I quickly had to learn to do everything independently and to a high standard in order to progress.
Most recently I have been riding with the University team, making the BUCS teams both years after trials. In this, we compete dressage and showjumping. Whilst being at university, I have also gained more of an interest into the dressage world, doing shows where I have a horse available.
Before uni when I had my own horses, I have done a bit of everything. I enjoy producing young horses especially, as I find it rewarding to see the progress after long hours of training and hard work.
The yard I kept my horses at was a riding school, where I worked if they were ever short of staff. Because of this, I am used to handling all sorts of types from shetland and miniature ponies, to large 18 hand hunters.
Specialities
One main speciality of mine is being able to lead a team. Being on the Equestrian committee at university for 2 years now, and being a captain of my team, has enabled me to be encouraging and inspire my teammates to be the best that they can be. I have been a source of many questions and queries as the society knows that I am knowledgable and ready to help. I like to ensure that I keep a tidy yard at all times, where getting jobs done first is a priority, as it is the key to a successful yard
Type of Ride Work
I am flexible to ride most horses, but the horses I enjoy to ride the most are young and green horses. I have experience from riding welsh D's up to competitive warmbloods, I am not fazed by much. I am very comfortable doing flat work and showjumping, and I am open to hunting. Although I have little experience in this sector, I am willing and open to learn and expand my knowledge.
Competition Details
I have experience competing, and recently I have been involved in organising the university BUCS competitions. This involves getting in contact with other universities and arranging the different dates each team will host, and relaying that back to our riding school to ensure all the horses are fit and available to compete.
