Duties of Current Occupation
I have recently finished my BA (Hons) Equine Business top-up year.
Equine Work Experience
I have done work experience at my local riding school where I carried out general yard duties (mucking out, water, feeding, grooming, leading, etc) and helped lead the horses in lessons. I helped out with the RDA while I was volunteering on the college yard for a few months, where I helped with keeping the school clean and leading the horses. While I was volunteering with the college, I carried out general yard duties such as filling hay nets, washing horses down, cleaning out stables, skipping out and grooming. I have not done these duties in a few years, but I am confident they will come back easily.
Specialities
I am a quick learner and I tend to pick things up fairly quickly. I am happy to be taught different ways of doing things. I can currently muck out stables, groom, skip out, lead horses, put horses on the walker and put rugs on horses. I have worked primarily with riding school horses.
Type of Ride Work
I was working on my riding and was JUST getting into cantering before I had to quit riding in 2018 due to medical reasons. My surgeon has discharged me as of 18th July 2020, which means that I can now get back into riding and get back to working on my canter.
UPDATE 2024: I took a break from riding for two years from summer 2024 and have not ridden in a while. I can still walk and trot independently, but confidence about cantering remains low.
Competition Details
I was an Arena Steward and Score collector for the Festival of Dressage 2021 at Hartpury University and I was also an Arena Steward for the Showjumping Spectacular 2021 at Hartpury University. I have also helped out on two separate days as an Arena Steward for the Winter Classics Showjumping 2021, where I helped build the courses and pick up fallen poles. However, I have never competed myself but this is one of my ambitions.
