Equine Work Experience
I've owned my own ponies from the age of 6, which is around the same time I started volunteering for my local riding school and helping family friends with their horses. Since then, I have gone on to work for every level from your local riding schools to Olympic yards and even a bit of time as a freelancer. I've had the joys of working with the easy plod along ponies, and the rewards of working with more challenging horses - behaviourally rehabilitating a few along the way - including feral horses.
My ridden career has lasted approximately 20 years and although I hold many rosettes for gymkhanas, show jumping, and dressage, I am yet to compete seriously. I have always been focussed on developing myself as a rider, and assisting in the education of the horses rather than taking it too seriously although I do hope to change this with my current horse.
Specialities
Unwavering desire to always learn and improve skill set and knowledge. Have worked with a variety of horse personalities and never had an upset client - human or animal!
Type of Ride Work
I have ridden up to novice dressage and cleared 1m15 courses, but due to falls, injuries and being pushed beyond my limits when I was not ready, I have lost a lot of confidence in the saddle. I'm happy with flat work but not a fan of poles anymore, let alone a cross pole! However, I am working towards reestablishing my confidence and hope to one day compete in jumping once again.
Competition Details
As stated above, I have never taken my competing of horses seriously. Having only competed at pony days and student shows, I hold mostly 1st place ribbons and medals, some 2nd, 3rd and 4th thrown in there too, but not many out of the many competitions I have participated in.
I have worked for competitive riders but have yet to gain more experience in this area due to the pandemic preventing competitions.
