Equine Work Experience
I started working on Sundays at a local hunt/ event yard when I was 15, once I finished school I worked full time as the second ground at a top level event yard where I worked for 3 years both grooming/ exercising the horses at home and at competitions. From there I went to a family hunt yard where I had sole charge of the day to day running of the yard including the exercising of the horses and communicating with vets, farriers etc.
I am now working at a large race yard in North Yorkshire where I have recently been promoted to working under the assistant trainer with the view of progressing to head person with time. In the position I work with both young and very fit competition horses.
I also spent a summer working at a stud yard where I was the main rider breaking in the young horses.
