Equine Work Experience

I had previously worked at Grange Farm which was a big livery yard for 2 years where I was responsible for bringing in , turning out , mucking out , skipping out , any medication needing to be given and helping horse owners with any problem and general welfare for a large number of horses . Grange farm demanded the highest standard for their customers so this meant keeping the yard spotless (and also needing to look tidy for their other business ventures what go through/see the yard ). An example of my experience came when I had identified one of the livery yard owners horses was colicing in the field , and I was the first one on scene and got him out and walking around until the vet had arrived , the owner was at work . Also , managing my own accident prone horse has taught me many equine skills in caring for him after two surgeries , getting him fit and understanding needs of well-being and identifying problems .

Specialities

Ive been riding since I was 6 years old and owned one since I was 12 , and understand fully all the challenged associated with looking after horses and the commitment and time it takes .I had studied the BHS stages 1& 2 but however haven't taken the exams . I did lead a youngstock pony club every Saturday afternoon for nearly a year , teaching them the basics of having a pony and care , I ensured the children had the best time and also learnt whilst having fun .

Type of Ride Work

Riding at many different stables and their many quirky horses had taught me how to ride properly and manage horses differently . My first horse was a typical strong cob , whom I had rescued required me to bring him on and conquer the many challenges he had presented . Then going onto my current ISH who was out of work and out of shape when I bought him and then I brought him on to be competition fit for him to then have 2 lots of surgeries for me to start from scratch again after them .

Competition Details

The grange farm where I had worked was also a competition yard . I have competed on my ISH gelding at Festival of the horse championships at Aston Le walls (15th /50)-Jumping and dressage ,Rockingham horse trials - showjumping with the Fitz, Winner at Rutland county area dressage qualifier (qualified for NAFF Lincoln dressage championships but my horse had to have surgery),Winter dressage champion -Prelim (highest score of the day at 75%).Lots of various local dressage and jumping competitions
