Three merits: level 3 Extended Diploma in Horse Management - Moulton Collage
I have had work experience and voluntary work at a variety of small liveries: Moulton college, as part of my course i worked commercial shifts and also assisted master saddlers mock exams by acting as a client. Holcot riding stables, I worked for a few months for work experience carrying out most yard duties. (feeding, rugging, turn out, catching, grooming, some clipping, mucking out, general care and tidying the yard) Equilore, I worked at Equilore for several months work experience carrying out yard duties and including lunging and some riding. I am currently volunteering at a few yards around my local area when needed including some handling foals and being responsible for the horses when the owner was unable to make it to the yard. I have also started to help manage the paddocks, including poo picking, digging up ragwort and fixing electric fencing. I also have experience working with some livestock such as goats and poultry and have many animals of my own.
I have had a small amount of experience handling foals on a voluntary basis as well as work experience on a few liveries during my college studies and beyond which included commercial work as part of my course. I can muck out to a high standard and am competent in basic care and welfare for horses. I have some experience in land management and am very willing to learn as much as I can about all aspects of equine care, management and behaviour.
I am a competent but not a very confident rider. I have mostly ridden school and college horses. I have hacked out quite often in the past and continuing to have lessons to improve my confidence and skills. I can walk, trot and canter comfortably but have not had the opportunity to jump.
I have not had the opportunity to be a competition groom but have helped load and unload horses.
