Qualifications
I do not have any formal equine-related courses.
Equine Work Experience
I started learning to ride when I was young and was a member of the Pegasus Pony Club which gave me the basic skills relating to riding and horse care. I then moved on to become a volunteer at the Pegasus centre where I developed a wide range of equine skills as well as interpersonal skills which I gained from my time working with both able-bodied and disabled children. I have experience assisting in a wide range of riding lessons from very beginners to jumping and mounted games activities. This also gave me experience riding a wide range of horses. I part loaned three horses at various times, the longest was a pony at Lane Farm Livery and then Todburn Livery for three years. This gave me valuable experience personally caring for horses as well as some low level competing experience. I have lots of experience riding on main roads, country roads, fields and public footpaths and bridleways. Caring for horses is my real passion and I would love the opportunity to develop my skills.
Specialities
I have experience assisting running the Pony Club at The Pegasus Centre in Tranwell.
I have a lot of experience grooming and mucking out in the RDA and livery sections of the Pegasus centre as well as helping with all other stable duties.
Type of Ride Work
While at the Pegasus Centre I had the opportunity to ride a wide range of horses. I was often used to trial horses that may then be used in riding lessons for children and disabled riders. This included an ex-racehorse, various younger horses and older horses. Part loaning horses gave me the chance to develop my riding on the same horses and develop the horses' fitness.
Competition Details
I have competed in some low level, non-formal showjumping and dressage competitions at the Pegasus Centre and Lane Farm. I have experience helping to organise competitions at the Pegasus centre for able-bodied and disabled children.
