Level 2 diploma in horse care

Mucking out to a high standard, ensuring both stabled and field horses are fed and watered, assessing which rugs horses should wear based on their individual needs, grooming and tacking up to a high standard, exercising as per horses needs.

I have worked a variety of yards which have all had a variety of focuses, I started in a riding school, went on to Northern Racing College, did a placement at a dressage/trekking/stud yard in Wales and have since worked on racing yards, showing yards, hunting yards and livery yards. I completed a higher apprenticeship at bransby equine rescue and currently volunteer at a riding school in exchange for full loan of one of their horses. I am capable of assessing lameness, bandaging for both exercise and injury, clipping to an individuals needs, identifying feed types and assessing what an individual horse would benefit from being fed, assessing body condition scores, capable of recognising a variety of illnesses having had first hand experience with a wide array from cushings, laminitis and EMS to grass sickness and salmonella, experience with fecal worm egg testing and saliva testing to assess which horses require worming and which do not, tacking up and grooming to a high standard

Due to my experience with racing yards and then a long break from riding I struggle with sitting to a canter, which I am working on. I can safely and effectively exercise horses both in the school and out hacking. I am a quiet rider with soft hands. I have broken in two horses previously and have ridden both nervous and strong horses. I have minimal experience jumping but am willing to learn. I have some experience with driving.

I have never competed but would be very interested in doing so in the future
