Equine Work Experience

I have been in my current place of employment for 8.5 years, and have been the yard manager for 6 years. I regularly have to take some charge of the yard, which includes: bringing horses in and preparing them for lessons; handling money, cashing up and booking customers in for lessons; teaching a variety of lessons from beginner lead reins to experiences dressage and jumpers, both adults and children ; clipping and tidying of horses; general yard duties; exercising, schooling and the occasional breaking of horses; answering the phone and booking in equine professionals such as the vet, physio, dentist and farrier. I also have to work as part of a team, and lead up to 4 staff members and anywhere in excess of 10 volunteers on a regular basis. I am able to keep a team motivated, lead by example and keep up efficiency. I am also able to plan activities for the holidays, and am creative and innovative to help keep all interested and keen.

Type of Ride Work

I am able to ride dressage to medium/advanced medium and jump up to 1.10m courses. I can hack out confidently, both slow fitness work and fast work. I am able to ride a variety of horses, from competition horses to difficult horses, to young and green horses. I have backed and broken a few horses under supervision in the past and am happy to break horses in the future.

Competition Details

Regularly compete Elementary on my own Dressage horses. Have qualified and competed at regional championships at Prelim, Novice and Elementary. Won and placed. Qualified and competed at national U25's championship and Prelim, Novice and Elementary. Placed Showjumped at British Novice and Discovery (90/100cm). Double clears on tickets. Competed in a few county working hunters. Placed.
