Duties of Current Occupation
I am currently in a professional position as a Heritage Consultant and need a change. I have been involved with horses all my life and now would like to work with horses.
Equine Work Experience
I have never worked in a professional equestrian environment. Horses are my hobby and I have owned horses for over 30 years. I rode as a child on other people’s ponies and got my own horse when I was 24. I bought her as an unbroken, 4-year-old and did all the breaking, training and financing myself and achieved intermediate eventing level. Whilst eventing I also helped a friend break and school his homebred shire cross thoroughbred, one of which achieved national level dressage. When my event horse retired, I bought a wild Exmoor colt at 6month old and started all over again, he was a challenge but again did eventing, dressage and hunting with him. I have followed a number of natural horsemanship courses and found the principles very useful with a wild colt. I now have a 3-year-old Fell pony which I intend to compete at local level in all disciplines. I am a confident, experienced and capable rider and I can turn out to a high standard.
Specialities
I am hard working and reliable and would be happy lone working. I have hunted and evented and can turn out to a high standard. I like sweeping so always have a very tidy yard and tackroom!
Type of Ride Work
I have ridden all sorts of horses and started many, including my Exmoor Pony and currently my Fell pony. I have hunted, and also competed in eventing and dressage. I am a competent and experienced rider but at this stage in my life would not consider riding dangerous or problem horses.
Competition Details
Previously I have evented and competed in dressage. I currently own a 21year old Exmoor pony who I bought wild from Exmoor as a 6mth old colt. I broke him in and then competed at County shows in M&M, BD Dressage, Pony Club level Eventing and hunted him with the Readyfields. Prior to my Exmoor I evented a thoroughbred mare. I also have a 3year Fell Pony who I am breaking in, to do it all again!
