I am a keen aspiring groom who has been working with horses on a voluntary basis, and am now looking for a full or part-time opportunity to progress my career and gain more experience. I am confident around horses and have been developing essential skills through volunteering at a livery yard and with a rescue. Ideally, I would be looking for a role in the Basingstoke area while I'm learning to drive, but happy to consider a live-in position in the wider Hampshire region or further afield.
My name is Daisie, I am 18 years old and have owned horses for the past 5 years. I have previously worked on an international showjumping yard and am keen to pursue my next job. I am open to any discipline and able to adapt to every yards standards and needs.
I may not have the qualifications in horses but my experience I find has outweighted people who has in the past. I am hard working, lateral thinker and take lot of pride in my work ethic. I have a wealth of experience and can turn my hand to pretty much anything. Naturally, I am a friendly person and you will always see me with a smile on my face. I am happy to work on my own and manage my responabilites. Having a family in farming has given me a deep appreciation and passion for animals.
Daily horse handling, weight maintenance, ordering feed and hay, mucking out, keeping the yard tidy, tacking up , exercising the horses, taking clinents out on accommandied hacks, instructing childen to ride and excellent customer.
I became a team member running the pony rides at centre parcs (Sherwood Forest) with 3-11 years olds, this also involved yard work, loading and assistance of carrige horse hitching. During my time there, I ran grooming sessions with groups up to 6. The yard consisted of 8 working horses. I have worked at a show yard in Plesley Vale, where I had sole responsibility for the horses. I would prep for shows bathing, grooming and tack cleaning. The yard was sole occupancy and had 10 horses stabled alongside a turned out herd of 8. Theremore I have worked at at riding school in blidworth, mainly tacking up mucking out and poo picking, some of these horses included ex racers. I have also had work experience with Mickey Gavin in Blidworth and backed and riden many other people's horses for them over the years.
Being a manager, I have had a teaming working with me and I have plenty of experience in team leader roles in a varity of settling, not just horses. Within the horse sector I have woked with broodmares, staillions and youngstock. I closely monitor horses wellbeing and keep an close eye for any medical issues that could arrise e.g Collic, Lamintis, Abscesses etc. Time keeping an essential part of every day and being able to complete all my jobs to a high standard is some I pride myself on.
I have riden in many styles over the years from, flatwork, jumping, bareback, liberty, hacking, endurance, schooling, starting and gentling wild and unhanded horses, all with the same principal of, if you don't put the time in, the results won't come out. Working with different breeds from cyldales to shetlands and all inbetween has given me lots of experience. I have riden spooky green horses and stead old ones. I adjust my work plan accordingly to the horse for what is appropriate.
Owning horses I've always ventured into different fields of activity with them or my clients horses. My clients horses have been mainly working wtih troubles horses or rehabilitating them, to get on track for a safe ride for them to progress further no matter the field. Alongside this, I have taken my cousins to pony camps and embedded my self to many other social event such as polo. I have worked on a varity of yards and adapt my hand to all. I adore working with horses no matter the weather.
