I am not necessarily looking to work in a yard with a specific discipline, working in a yard with a good atmosphere and where the horses are treated well is what is important to me.
Qualifications

Although sadly I do not have any equine qualifications, I would hope that my years of experience and enthusiasm would count for something. I am open to taking qualifications if the employer desired.

Duties of Current Occupation

O.K. my current occupation has nothing to do with what I actually want to do - which is work with horses. I do help out daily at my parents Cleveland Bay stud, but I don't get paid for this. More details below.

Equine Work Experience

I have been riding for 20 years, and for 15 of those I have had my own pony/horse. I have brought on a few horses from their initial training to compete in local shows, where we have successfully placed.

My father and step-mum own and run a Cleveland Bay Stud, where quality, breed compliant horses are produced. This has introduced me to the breeding side of equines, being around the Stallion, mares and foals. This is something I am still learning about from my step-mum, as she ran a successful stud in Calgary, Canada, where she bred international competition horses. I help out daily at the stud, around my full time job. I would like to be able to leave the office job behind, and gain paid employment working with horses. At the moment I help with general yard duties, as well as handling the mares, foals and stallion. I also exercise the horses, mainly though hacking them out, getting them used to seeing different things, and occasionally compete (most recently with a 2 YO in hand).

Specialities

I specialise in the general day to day care of horses, keeping them happy and healthy. That may sound simple to put in the "specialities" section, but the general day-to-day upkeep of a horse is very important no matter what the horse is to be doing. Glaze over this, and it will effect the horses quality of life.

Type of Ride Work

Hacking, schooling, and competing.

Hacking is something I have done since I was 9 on my first pony. It is the main way I exercise the horses and ponies I have owned, from short hacks found the block, to 5 hour rides along roads and bridleways. I have also done much work in the school to get horses ready for competing in a variety of disciplines at shows - from dressage to show jumping.

Competition Details

I have competed successfully at local shows on horses that I have trained up (and turned out) myself, often getting placed in the top three, and winning the Overall Supreme Champion twice. I am also on standby as a handler for someone who takes their horses to county shows.
