HNC (Higher National Certificate) Equine Studies and HND (Higher National Diploma) Equine Studies.

I have got an HND (higher national diploma) in equine studies and have spent 4 years as a nanny/groom on a private yard In Yorkshire. I am willing to travel for the right position anywhere in the UK but I'm currently based in Northern Scotland.

I can do all yard duties i.e. mucking out, grooming, clipping, cleaning tack, lunging, making up feeds, tacking up horses, bringing in and turn out, poo picking and riding. I have worked with both mares and geldings, I have also had the chance to work with some semi-feral ponies and young stock. I have helped with lessons at my local riding school from lead rein to jumping and I have helped out at pony club camps as well. With-in this work I helped with riding for the disabled and helping young children on their first lessons. During my studies at college I learnt about nutrition, anatomy, health, fitness, Equine facility management and Preparation of horses for competitions. I have also learnt about the Brood Mare, the Stallion, young stock, grassland management and I also did a business module during and some other subjects related to this course. My favourite subjects included: Horse Nutrition, riding and horsemanship and learning about Instructional Techniques.

I have occasionally worked with foals and brood mares. I have also been left in sole charge on occasion! I have worked with hunt horses, polo ponies and riding school horses and ponies. I have done feed orders in the past and generally can do all yard duties. I have also worked with children as a nanny for several years ages ranging from new-born up to teenagers. I particularly like cleaning tack and making sure the tack room is left clean, tidy and organised.

In the past I have ridden walk, trot, canter and jumps. I haven't ridden for a number of years now due to an back injury so would be quite rusty and also the area I currently live doesn't have a riding centre/school. I would be willing to take up riding again in the future but I feel I wouldn't be able to jump because of the back injury.
