Duties of Current Occupation
I worked at a small stud/dressage yard for 16 months. My main responsibility was general yard duties including mucking out, cleaning tack, filling hay nets, grooming and feeding horses. I completed these tasks to a high-quality standard and on my own
Equine Work Experience
I have worked at a top eventing and dressage yard as a main groom, where I gained experience with handling large young, fit, horses and preparing them for competing. I was responsible for all main yard duties whilst also bathing and plaiting horses to prepare them for shows. I also looked after the horses’ wellbeing, bandaging and claying their legs as they returned from competing or gallops, and undertaking an overall health check. In order to maintain a smooth running of the yard I ensured that we kept to tight timescales and communicated openly with other staff members to develop a supportive environment which was important, especially, when handling unpredictable horses.
Specialities
I have experience with handling foals, brood mares and young fit horses
Competition Details
