Duties of Current Occupation
I am currently studying Business Management at the University of Stirling. I am looking for a job ideally for over the summer May-September involving horses.
Equine Work Experience
I have a very sympathetic approach to everything I do with horses and will always try to find the best and most suitable solution to any problem no matter how small it is. I have been riding since I was 8 and then got my own horse when I was 9. From riding school ponies, to thoroughbreds I have ridden most horses. I have handled all types of horse also from foals all the way up to old horses including the care for both. At university I compete in BUCS which mean I am regularly competing horses that I have been given to warm up for 5 mins for the first time seeing the horse so I know I have a good feel for different horses characters. I brought on my own horse from a 3 year old and within 3 months of owning him I had him competing at the Blair Castle International horse trials where he was so chilled out in such a huge atmosphere, due to my very calm teaching with him.
Specialities
I feel I am an around handy person when it comes to horses I have owned my own horses for 10 years now and have always had to do everything myself. I feel by doing everything myself I have learned so much and also a lot of patience. My special field would definitely be young horses as I have brought on 4 youngsters in the last few years and the change in some of them has been incredible.
Type of Ride Work
I mainly enjoy jumping and cross country however, am very understand that flatwork is the key to the success of both of these disciplines. I am competent in riding a wide range of horses both in open areas and within arenas etc. I have done a lot of riding in my life due to the fact since starting riding I have almost always owned a horse or been given someone else's horse to bring on so its like second nature to me now.
Competition Details
I have probably competed on and off for 5/6years. Due to having a lot of youngsters my main aim has always been to slowly introduce them to show environments and ensure that they feel comfortable and always have fun. Most competitions have been at local livery yard and then my annual trip to Blair to compete in various classes there. I have competed in dressage, show jumping, cross country, working hunter, showing and eventing.
