Equine Work Experience

I have been ridding for fourteen years and owned my own horse for 7 years who i brought on myself as he had some health issues and has taught me pretty much everything. Before owing my own horse I worked at a riding school, there we would turn in, out, muck out and have to have all horse groomed and tacked up ready for their lessons we would then assist the rider onto the horse/pony, then if needed lead them around during their lesson or be there for rider support. After working at the riding school I worked at a private livery yard which was also used as a breaking and schooling yard. This is when I expanded my skills as I was the only groom in charge of a lot of horses of a variety of age and health requirements. I would start in the early morning turning out all livery's that required being turned out and all young horses currently staying to be broken or schooled, I would then muck out take water to fields, make sure everyone is fed and then begin exercising.

Specialities

Able to muck out properly under a certain amount of time. Have worked with youngsters and Broodmares. Lunging and Exercising different horses. Safely turning in and out. I brought on/Broke in my own horse. I know how to act in a emergency as have had experiences. I have entered shows myself so know how properly prepare. I can keep a tidy work space. Good time keeping.

Type of Ride Work

Learnt to ride and jump on school ponies. I have ridden freshly broken and green horses. I have broke in my own horse. I have competed in dressage and taught my horse how to jump. I have hacked on my own and in company. I am regularly coming up with new exercises with poles or on the flat to help school my horse and keep his mind working.

Competition Details

I have always been working on Stables or kept my horse on stables so I am surrounded by other owners a lot of who I befriend and have assisted with show prep and even going to the shows with them to help. I have competed in hand once with a horse I had on loan and another with a friends horse. I have competed my own horse in local dressage competitions the most recent one bring home a first place. I am looking at entering more and even considering entering into jumping competitions.
