Duties of Current Occupation

Whilst studying for my Diploma in Equine Management im also an assistant yard manager on a dressage yard. Duties: yard duties, excercising horses (ridden and on the lunge), organising other staff and a day plan, feed orders, assisting with vet etc.

Equine Work Experience

My current role of Assistant Yard Manager entails organisation of staff and yard, excercising ridden and on the lunge, assisting with vets, farriers etc, handling stallions and young stock, sole charge, taking in feed orders, preparing for competitions, such as packing lorry and turnout horses. I have worked in this hard for 13 months and started as a trainee alongside college and have worked my way up. I hold a level 3 diploma in equine management and my BHS Stage 1. I am studying towards my advanced extended diploma in equine management and am se to take my BHS Stage 2 soon.

Previously I have worked on a private yard looking after 4 retired eventers (up to five star) and maintaining their work load.

And I further have been a volunteer at a large riding for disabled facility when I was at school, duties included training other volunteers and organisation of the day to day of the yard.

All of my initial training was from a Olympic Competition Groom

Type of Ride Work

I have ridden a range of horses from cobs to hot Grand Prix dressage horses. Predominantly hack at work with some schooling. Have ridden 4 year olds also.

Am ever learning more and wish to continue, have done some jumping/cross country. But mostly flat work. This is an area for development.

Competition Details

I have groomed at amateur event such as BE 100, but not competed. And work on a Dressage yard and am I charge of getting sorted for these comps and turnouted the horses
