Qualifications

I have no formal equine qualifications yet. I have 20 years of practical experience gained through years of riding, horse care and yard work. I studied for 3 years to be a Nurse and have worked as a nurse alongside my equine duties for 3 years. Having a nursing qualifications has also helped me care for any injured riders or horses.

Duties of Current Occupation

Mucking out/feeding/rugging/grooming/tack cleaning. Exercising horses, flat work/show jumping/cross country/hunting/basic dressage/hacking/lunging/ground work. Maintenance like clipping/basic foot trimming/plaiting. Travelling with trailer/box.

Equine Work Experience

20 years experience riding and caring for horses at large and small yards with a variety of horses. I have done regular jumping, flat work, ground work and hacking at riding schools and with loaned and owned horses. My own horses have always been on DIY yards so I have had full responsibility for my horses as well as helping with daily yard duties, feeding, mucking out, turnout and health monitoring for other horses at riding schools. For 2 years I have also worked full time as a Nurse alongside managing my equestrian duties showing my reliability, responsibility and strong work ethic. Having a Nursing background has also helped with managing wound care/bandaging/poulticing of the horses.

Specialities

Confident working with a variety of horses including foals/young/green horses/nervous/competition horses. Comfortable handling fit/sharp/strong horses. Experience riding alone and in groups. Familiar with show preparation such as plaiting/clipping/bathing. Happy to work independently or as a team.

Competition Details

I have competed with my own horse in unaffiliated show jumping competitions and events. During which, I prepared my own horse: bathing, plaiting and trimming so would feel confident preparing horses for shows for other people as well.
