• Mucking out • Tacking up • Maintaining a high standard of horse care • Teaching a variety of clients • Preparing and providing feeds to horses • Handling various types of horses (from riding school to liveries) • Field maintenance
I have over 12 years worth of horse riding experience. I gained most of my experience in Ireland, from starting at a show jumping yard to a cross country yard. From a young age I was learning how to manage ponies/horses, muck out and tack up. I have my own horse who is a ex racehorse that I have been schooling as he was a flat racer. Recently I worked at a private owned competition yard, where I learned to sole manage a yard. We had up to 13 horses and I would muck out, tack up, hay, feed and handle to fields or walker. I would prepare tack for competitions. Currently I work at a BHS/Pony Club/RDA approved yard, where I teach, manage different yards as we have over 60+ horses. On a day to day basis, I will muck out, turn out, tack up if needed, hay and feed.
My specialities are being able to take control of a situation when needed, provide training for new members of staff, muck out, turn out, tack up and have my yard to a high standard. I am able to adapt to any new challenges and face them head on. I have sole managed yards. I also teach various different levels of riding as well as Pony Club students and also riders with disabilities. I am able to work in a fast pace environment.
I have ridden different types of horse, from young horses, to experience horse, to problem horses. As previously stated I have my own thoroughbred who was a flat racer so have been schooling him to see what he can specialise in. I have also ridden school horses, to show jumpers, to dressage horses and also cross country horses.
I have participated in yard competitions in showjumping, were I placed 1st twice and 3rd in the groups I competed. I used to compete regularly when I was a child. As previously stated would prep tack and horses for competition in my current job and previous.
