Duties of Current Occupation

Every summer from the ages of 13 to 21 (2015-2023) I volunteered/worked at various summer camps and assisted in instructing children in beginner or immediate horseback riding lessons.

Equine Work Experience

I grew up with horses. Throughout the entirety of my grade school years (ages 5 to 18), I rode them on a weekly basis at minimum. I have minimal experience in western discipline but primarily trained in hunter-jumpers. From the ages of 13 to 18 I competed in show jumping, specifically IEA. In 2018, I made it to the regional finals. Throughout those summers, I was at the barn nearly every day, either riding, grooming, instructing, or helping with handywork around the property. I also attended a week-long cross-country training camp each summer, though I never properly competed in a cross-country show. My family privately owned two horses that I was responsible for.

Specialities

I have experience in breaking horses into hunter-jumper discipline. I have been present during the covering of a mare and a stallion. In terms of leadership, I was the oldest on my show team and typically the intermediary between my team and the owners of our barn.

Type of Ride Work

I have minimal experience in western/barrel riding. Primarily I trained in hunter-jumpers, as well as learning dressage techniques. I have showed haflingers, thoroughbreds, quarterhorses, paints, and even a percheron/paint mix. I have broken a few young geldings and also a few older rescue horses. IEA shows supplied you with horses at random, rather than allowing you to show your own, so I have experience with learning a horse in real time.

Competition Details

I have competed in many competition yards both as part of IEA and during local shows in the Houston, Texas area.
