Comments
Though I don't have a lot of experience jobwise, my volunteering has given me a good base and I'm happy to expand my horizons. I am passionate about horses and their care and willing to put in the work needed to have a career in the care of horses.
Qualifications

I did an animal care course at my local college and as part of this I did work experience at a local farm and looked after the ponies. I also did a three week work experience at Barleyfields Equestrian Centre in 2018. During that time I mucked out the horses, turned them in and out and groomed them. I also undertook general yard maintenance. I have also cleared fields of poisonous plants.

Equine Work Experience

I volunteered at Scropton Riding and Driving Centre for around a year until the pandemic closed the stables, while at volunteering I cleaned out the stables, groomed the horses (including picking the hooves). I turned in and out the horses, fed and watered them too. I also assisted in lessons. I did a three week work experience at Barleyfield Equestrian center, where I did the same things as at Scropton.

Specialities

I've volunteered at Scropton Riding and Driving Centre and worked with a wide variety of horses. Most of them were cobs, some were ponies and some were mixed breeds.

I've had a lot of experience of mucking out and tidying the stables along with general maintenance. I can also French plait horse tails. I can tack up horses both bridles and saddles. I can also pick the horses hooves and groom them.

Type of Ride Work

I have taken a few riding lessons where I learned the basics (stopping, starting, turning, walking as well as trotting) I had plans to take more lessons but the riding lessons at Scropton had to be cancelled due to the pandemic. I have every intention of picking lessons back up when I am able.

Competition Details
