Equine Work Experience
I have spent the last year working for Witheford Equine who deal with problematic horses, the last 4 months I have been acting yard manager. I have had my own horses/ponies since I was 6 and was in Pony Club from 9 to 18 years old where I completed my E,D,C,C+ tests and did the training for my B test. After school I worked at a private stud and eventing yard for 12 months where I was responsible for everyday yard duties such as mucking out, feeding and grooming for competitions. I also had the opportunity to ride young horses being broken in all the way to 3 star eventers. After my first year at University I spent 3 Months working at a top Horse Racing yard where I was again responsible for everyday yard duties, as well as riding 4 horses a day. I was personally responsible for mucking out 4 horses each day and responsible for race day travelling and turnout. I have also worked with the Goggerdan Pony Club teaching children from 5 to 15 for 6 months.
Specialities
I enjoy working with individual horses and learning their quirks. I am dedicated to my work and the horses I am responsible for. I have done a Foundation Degree in Equine Studies at Aberystwyth University which has taught me vocational skills through BHS coaches as well as medical knowledge, making me qualified on paper and in practice due to my experience working on a stud and eventing yard, at Alan King Racing, and with remedial racehorses at Witheford Equine
Type of Ride Work
Experienced in dressage up to novice, jumping up to BE90 in competition, trained up to novice height. Have ridden young horses from starting thoroughbred yearlings, 2 year olds racing, and 3 year olds bred for eventing. I have also ridden horses of all ages and capabilities from hacking, flat work, jumping and cross country. At University I have done an Equitation Module where I was tested on my ability to assess horses on the flat and jumping by a qualified BHS assessor.
Competition Details
I have competed my own horse up to BE100, showjumping up to 1.10m and competed in unaffiliated dressage to novice successfully.
