Duties of Current Occupation

Mucked out and re-bedded all stalls. Prepared individualised feeds, including supplements and medications. Maintained updated health records (vaccinations, de-worming, shoeing, etc.). Administered therapies: Equissage therapy. Laser treatment

Equine Work Experience

Managed daily horse care: feeding, grooming, mucking out, tacking up, gear maintenance, and basic health checks. Coordinated morning track work: transported horses, prepared tack and racing aids, and liaised with jockeys on training plans and feedback. Prepared and tacked horses with appropriate gear and racing aids. Communicated directly with jockeys to: Outline daily training goals. Provide updates on each horse’s history, behaviour, and performance. Managed post-training recovery, including: Hosing down. Treating minor injuries (e.g., speed cuts, tack rubs). Adjusting gear based on comfort and fit.

Ensured cleanliness and safety of: Feed rooms, tack rooms, storage areas. Stables and work environments. Managed paddock routines, including: Bringing horses in for feeding. Maintaining grazing areas. Performed general property maintenance (e.g., fencing repairs, safety inspections). Rugged horses according to weather. Prepared them for overnight rest.

Specialities

Managed the daily care of 16 thoroughbred horses aged 2–7 years Oversaw individualised routines based on each horse’s fitness level, age, and temperament. Supervised afternoon swimming sessions for up to six horses. Represented the stable at major NSW race events, including Sydney and Golden Eagle Day.
