- Ideally looking to work at an equestrian property of any kind as a groom, but always interested in alternatives!
Qualifications
Whilst part of the UK Pony Club I completed my Pony Club 'B' Test, I have also gained my SVQ 2 Horse Care at SCQF Level 5 through the Equestrian Qualifications GB. Outside of equestrian, I have completed my Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award whilst at school and received a HND with Distinction for Environmental Resource Management. Following this year I hoped to have also achieved a Honors Degree in Agriculture.
Duties of Current Occupation
I'm currently completing my degree in Agriculture with the hope to begin travelling from June 2021.
Equine Work Experience
I have grown up with horse and from the age of 4 was an avid member of the Pony Club, I competed and participated in all Pony Club teams and activities up to National Level. In 2016 I moved to a competition yard as a working pupil with my pony. There in received experienced training daily from qualified instructors, including a previous 5* eventer, for 7 months. I also had the opportunity to ride a range of horse from young breakers to advanced eventers and work with clients and liveries. In 2018 I worked on a yard in Boston, MA, teaching young children to ride for 2 months, living on site with several other girls who I got on very well with. I also carried out all general yard jobs.
Specialities
I specialise in working as part of a team on any level of yard, from a small client- based to large competition business. I have lunged and exercised a range of horse and, though enjoy competing, I also thrive doing the basic yard tasks with a good hard working approach. I have a strong knowledge of horse and high turn-out standard but I'am always willing to learn and adapt to yard preferences. I'am also capable of lunging, hacking, schooling and jumping a range of horses.
Type of Ride Work
Previously I have worked at an eventing livery/competition yard were I carried out all yard duties including turnout, mucking out, exercising horses for clients, whilst competing and training with my own pony. I lived on site and also travelled to competitions as a groom. In 2018 I travelled to Boston, MA, as part of a Camp America program an taught children to ride for two months, whilst there I worked with other girls on all general yard duties and exercised camp ponies.
Competition Details
I have competed from a young age with notable achievements including placing 3rd at the UK Pony Club Championships in the individual eventing and showjumping finals in 2017, winning the Scottish Working Hunter Pony Finals in 2017. I have also competed in Pony Club dressage and Mounted Games, competing up to National level. I have also competed up to British Eventing 100cm level, including finishing 2nd in the Scottish Arena Eventing Finals in 2016.
