BHS Ride Safe Silver Challenge Award.

Completed work experience and volunteering for 2 years at Three Lochs Riding Stables; communicating with customers, taking out treks, looking after the horses, feeding/watering, helping with lessons, etc. Completed work experience with North Staffs Country Parks Guided Horse Rides for 1 year; learning hacking routes, caring for the horses, bathing, riding out, etc. Studying at Reaseheath College Equestrian Centre on a one year course; completing yard duties in the week and on weekends as part of built in work experience, competing in the Student Working Hunter In-Hand Competition, being on the quizzing team for the Intercollege Competition, dealing with a range of horses, learning to perform yard duties to a high standard.

High attention to detail with yard duties, keeping the yard clean at all times. Handling the different horses at Reaseheath College, as well as the horses at the location of my completed work experience and volunteering. Helping with lessons, dealing with customers, taking out customers on treks, feeding/watering/hay nets, rugging, plaiting up, poo picking, mucking out, sweeping up, turning out/bringing in, groundwork, hacking out, leading horses, tacking up/untacking/cleaning tack, bathing.

Ridden cob type horses from 12.3-16.2hh, finer type horses from 13.2hh-16.2hh, Boulonnais Draft horse at 16.2hh.

Ridden in the arena at all three paces, hacking out, galloping across fields.

Groundwork with 2 horses (13.2hh Cob and 18hh Belgian Draft).
