Duties of Current Occupation

Feed and watering livestock as specified, administering medicine when necessary, lambing complicated births, maintaining a clean living environment for all animals, recognising and dealing with health and safety hazards.

Equine Work Experience

I have spent the last 15 years working alongside horses, constantly developing my knowledge and understanding of them through different training methods. I have been responsible for feeding, tacking, medicating and exercising up to 10 horses daily. Assisted in starting young horses, educating, desensitising, clipping, loading and resolving any behavioural issues. Cleaning of stalls and general farm grounds to a very high standard. Grooming competition horses for shows and hunts.
I have learnt and implemented the practice of natural horsemanship in the UK and in New Zealand. Using horses alongside working dogs on challenging terrain to move stock, such as sheep and cattle, in all weather conditions.

Specialities

I have worked with a variety of horses; Foals, yearlings, stallions, eventers, OOTB's, hunters and showjumpers. Assisted in starting young horses, educating, desensitising, clipping, loading and resolving any behavioural issues. I turn out to a very high standard and have been a groom and rider for HOYS qualifiers. Keeping a clean and safe environment is of upmost importance, I can do this quickly and efficiently.

Type of Ride Work

I have ridden a wide variety of horses; green horses, youngsters, problem horses, competition horses and even jousting horses. Lots of experience in starting, backing and educating/desensitising, from foals to stallions. Expertise in flatwork, trekking, hunting and jumping. Moving stock on horseback whilst working a team of dogs on challenging terrain.

Competition Details

I have competed across the UK and New Zealand; showjumping, eventing, hunting and HOYS qualifiers. Assisted in teaching young children in lessons, developing their skills, building their confidence and eventually taking them to shows. Experience in being a competition groom and photographer, showing every weekend, on occasion for weeks at a time.
