Bio
I'm based in Chertsey, Surrey, with equine volunteering experience and BioVeterinary Science studies. I'm keen to learn in a hands-on equine welfare, racing, rehabilitation or veterinary support role, and open to relocating across the UK and Ireland.
Qualifications

I am studying BSc BioVeterinary Science at the University of Chester and concluding my dissertation remotely. It critically evaluates published evidence on musculoskeletal injury risk factors in Thoroughbred racehorses. My A-level studies included Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. I hold 10 GCSEs at grades A-A* and a Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Duties of Current Occupation

I supported stable and equestrian activities at Sandhurst Equestrian Centre, including RDA sessions. At Ash Farm, I volunteered in general yard and animal care. I worked with military and civilian staff, volunteers and children.

Equine Work Experience

In 2022, I gained work experience at Sandhurst Equestrian Centre, Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, supporting stable activities and RDA sessions. I communicated with military and civilian personnel, volunteers and children, and was praised for my punctuality, presentation, willingness to help and calm confidence around horses and dogs. Volunteering at Ash Farm, Ottershaw, in 2021 and 2022 involved general yard and animal care, developing my practical confidence around horses and calm, consistent handling. I have completed the three-year BioVeterinary Science programme at the University of Chester and am finalising my dissertation, critically evaluating published evidence on musculoskeletal injury risk factors in Thoroughbred racehorses, including workload and environment. This complements my practical experience and interest in welfare and prevention. I am seeking an entry-level equine role to build hands-on skills and learn from experienced practitioners.

Specialities

I bring calm, consistent animal handling, a scientific interest in equine welfare and a willingness to learn. My dissertation critically reviewed published evidence on musculoskeletal injury risk factors in Thoroughbred racehorses, considering workload, environment and horse-level factors. I'm interested in how research can support injury prevention, welfare and performance.

Type of Ride Work

I have had some riding training at polo farms, but my riding experience is limited. I would not currently describe myself as an experienced rider. I am keen to develop my riding skills through appropriate training and supervision.

Competition Details

I helped a competition groom at Ash Farm polo, gaining experience in a polo yard environment. My competition-related experience is limited to this supporting role, rather than competing or working as a competition groom myself.
