Qualifications

I have recently graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a bachelor of science degree in Equine Behaviour, Health and Welfare with a 2:1. I have also completed a 6 month internship with the British Horse Society as a Welfare Development Officer.

Duties of Current Occupation

Volunteered at Cranleigh riding school for a year and a half every Saturday. Worked as a groom at Crockers farm on and off for 4 and a half years. Worked at a pub and hotel restaurant as front of house staff.

Equine Work Experience

I’ve been around horses and ridden from a young age, gaining extensive hands-on and academic experience. I volunteered at Cranleigh Riding School for my Duke of Edinburgh Award for around a year and a half, assisting with lessons, pony camps, tacking up, grooming, and daily care. I then worked at Crockers Farm, a small family-run livery yard, for four and a half years during school and university holidays, managing daily yard duties independently. Although riding wasn’t part of my job, I rode a few horses there and found my long-term horse share, which strengthened my riding and adaptability. I recently completed a BSc (Hons) in Equine Behaviour, Health and Welfare (2:1) at Nottingham Trent University, developing a strong understanding of equine behaviour, learning theory, health, and welfare science. I also gained practical and riding experience in flatwork and jumping, and completed work experience on the university yard, combining academic knowledge with real-world horse management.

Type of Ride Work

I have a broad range of riding experience. Through my riding school, I built a strong foundation in flatwork and jumping, and at Crockers Farm, I rode a variety of horses including polo ponies. I also shared and regularly exercised my own horse for four and a half years, further developing consistency and responsibility in daily riding. During my time at university, I had the opportunity to ride a wide range of horses at the yard, I also have experience hacking out different horses.
