I’m 19 and looking for a working student position to further my riding skills. I have just started cantering, and I aspire to be a trainer. I am motivated to make a career in the equine industry!
I have a level 2 Equine Management Diploma
Currently unemployed
I started riding and loaning at 6 yrs old at my local livery yard and had lessons until I was about 12. I did some part time work for a few liveries around my area until I was about 14/15. I loaned horses here and there but have never owned one myself.
After a few years at college I realised I really wanted to pursue working with horses. I joined Merrist wood and did my Level 2 Equine management course which I enjoyed! After college I was offered a job at the RSPCA Equine rehabilitation centre near me after working for them part time. I worked here for about 1.5 yrs before I was made redundant due to the centre closing because of COVID-19.
My time here was spent running the yard with one, at most 2 other girls (there was a team of 4 of us) every day. We brought in, groomed, fusses, fed, medicated, lunged, loaded etc.... helped with the vet/farrier and most importantly spent our time working with very troubled horses and ponies! It was a very challenging job but so rewarding!
I am a highly motivated person who has a huge passion for working with horses! I am a confident handler and have dealt with quite tricky horses in my last Job at the RSPCA.
I can work in a team or work solo quite happily and have a lovely, bubbly personality.
I have ridden for years and can confidently work a horse on the flat to a good standard.
I recently had a riding assessment as part of my Job for the RSPCA and the instructor mentioned that if I were to be doing my BHS I ride at a level 2.
I have done some jumping but not too much. I have confidently jumped a 1m course but haven’t ridden or jumped in a year or so as we hadn’t quite got to backing the horses at my last job. (No arena)
