Duties of Current Occupation

In the past I have worked at different yards taking on the responsibility of a Yard manager and instructor at a riding school and livery yard to, Competition groom, Foaling duties, Yard supervisor at a equine college and Horse trainer and instructor.

Equine Work Experience

I have worked with all types of horses of all ages for many years on different types of yards. Dealing with the day to day routine of working as a team and as sole charge. I derive great satisfaction from undertaking various responsibilities, including clipping and trimming, dental check-ups, saddler, farrier, veterinary visits, worm egg counts and treatment, physiotherapy sessions, hay, feed, and bedding procurement.

Teaching different levels of children and adults I have always enjoyed weather that’s teaching Stable management, groundwork, hacking, flat and jump seeing them grow in confidence and progression.

Specialities

I have lead a team of people when I worked my way up from groom/trainee instructor to yard manager from apprentices to freelancer instructors. When I worked at the college I also supervised and taught students all about equine care and welfare. I’ve worked with many different horses including stallions and foals breeding Spanish horses for the riding school and working in wilkshire doing night duties on the stud. A high standard of turn out is what I love daily.

Type of Ride Work

I currently train police horses in Bushy park and on the roads. For the riding school and college I have ridden an array of different types to assess them for the riding school and to maintain their schooling for clients and students. When working as a competition groom I hunted, hacked and schooled too, I really enjoy seeing the progress and then forwarding that knowledge onto clients. I have jumped in the past mainly in lessons or clinics but not done a lot of jumping in the past 5years

Competition Details

I worked as a competition groom/head girl for an event rider. My job involved working on the yard with two other employees 5.5 days a week communicating with each other and my employer about the horses day to day care and welfare. I did all general yard duties, exercise the hunt and event horses daily, and did a season of hunting. As a competition groom I also had to prepare the horses for the competitions turning out to a high standard for show jumping, 3day eventing and hunting.
