I am looking for part time, regular work caring for horses, to include riding and exercising, grooming, tack cleaning, mucking out and any further stable yard duties. I am keen to develop my knowledge of horse care and my horsemanship skills.
Qualifications

None horsey as yet! I would be keen to study online the BHS accredited Foundation and Intermediate courses (self-funded), alongside learning on the job, in a hands on practical way.

I have 2 Diploma qualifications for work in other walks of life (in Care and in Shiatsu massage), which show my commitment to continuos professional development and life long learning.

A - levels (A - art, A - English lit and B - French) and my GCSE grades (4 x A*, 7 x A), all be they from a long time ago!

Duties of Current Occupation

Gardening as a self-employed sole trader since 2004, providing all aspects of garden maintenance to private customers at their homes. I have a route of regular gardens and have worked for some of my customers on a weekly basis, for many years.

Equine Work Experience

1992 -2004 Horse shares, enjoying riding and caring for the horses, cleaning tack and helping with the yard work. I did some amateur dressage tests and attended local Pony Club shows and cross-country courses. The manageress of the yard, I think appreciated that I was a sensible and sensitive rider and she involved me often with the bringing on of younger and newer horses, helping to school them and jump them at their first shows.

Whilst back-packing in 2002, I was able to find a temporary live-in job for bed and food on a ranch, helping a lady to exercise her young Arab horses ready for endurance racing in Australia. I also gave some riding lessons to her 9-year-old daughter.

After returning home to normal working life in England, I did Sunday work at a local private yard, where the lady kept Thoroughbred horses. The deal was to muck out, brush, tack-up, in exchange for a hack, finishing with cleaning the horse, the tack, doing the hay, feed and sweeping.
