Qualifications
I learnt how to ride in France where I completed the national federal exams up until "galop 5" level. I understand that this is equivalent to a BHS Stage 2 certification. I read as much as I can find about horse care and management to improve my skills in my free time. I am currently reading through the French and German Equestrian Federation official instruction manuals and have invested in and completed a number of online courses about the dressage training scale.
Duties of Current Occupation
My current job involves working for law firms servicing corporate clients in a number of sectors including: wealth management, banking, pharma, and energy. I am looking for a change of career.
Equine Work Experience
I am knowledgeable about horse management and care as well as the training principles of classical riding. I have the necessary motivation, skills, and willingness to hit the ground running. I can contribute positively to a team and its objectives. I have not worked in a professional equestrian environment previously but I do realise how much hard work is involved in caring for horses, and how demanding it can be. I have had a keen interest in horses for as long as I can remember and it has not diminished over time. For this reason, I will find working with them incredibly rewarding. I have experience in dressage, jumping, as well as some cross country. I know how to lunge horses and use groundwork to improve communication between horse and rider when working under saddle. I also have basics about horse anatomy and health, which I am keen to add to.
Specialities
I am an amateur rider. The decade I spent working in private practice has equipped me with key skills for working with horses: inspiring confidence in others, attention to detail, perseverance and patience, being organised, seeing the big picture, being a team player, anticipating issues and taking initiative, dealing with and resolving disagreements, following instructions, and above all staying calm and delivering under pressure. I also speak French, Spanish, and some German.
Type of Ride Work
I am used to riding well trained or partly trained horses. I do not have experience backing or starting young horses but I am currently reading about the familiarisation phase in one of my various books about horse care and would be glad to put some of this knowledge into practice. As mentioned above, I have experience in dressage, jumping, cross country, lunging, and groundwork.
Competition Details
My competition experience is limited. During my teens, I used to take part in local level showjumping competitions in France (winning a few). In a groom capacity however I would be keen to assist with all aspects of preparing for shows: from arrangements for horse transport, to grooming plaiting and tacking up, to post competition leg care, and anything else I might be called on to get involved with. I have a driving licence and am open to taking the test for driving heavier vehicles.
