Duties of Current Occupation
Pre-covid I had my own canine and equine care business, doing general horse care turning out stable duties etc, but I also assisted with the year long post op recovery of a horse who had laser sarcoid removal and then gained additional injuries.
Equine Work Experience
Weekend work at riding school from the age of 13 doing all yard duties and leading children and beginners, later on escorting hacks and assisting in the livery yard
Owned my own horse for 4 years, selling him to his devoted sharer when I fell pregnant with my son
Running my own equine care services business with duties including stable duties, administering medication, wound care, exercising, attending farrier and vet visits and early turnouts and late bring ins
Specialities
*Being confident around larger horses, especially ones with an attitude/sassyness (my old 17hh ISH bit spun and kicked in his stable at every approach, and took 3 hours to catch - best horse in the world!) *Being calm, patient, and being able to read a horse and reflect my behaviour around them to try and make the horse feel comfortable in my presence *All the horses I’ve worked with don’t like rushing and flapping so timekeeping is essential so if something goes wrong so you have time….
Type of Ride Work
I was in the second highest level riding group at merrist wood, predominately down to my lack of jumping experience. I am a confident rider, and my horse was strong minded and strong muscled, especially if he saw a wheelie bin! He gave me the opportunity to be brave and I really progressed with jumping. however since selling my horse I have had a lack of opportunities to concentrate on my riding as the horses I’ve been riding are either in recovery from injury or just need light work…
