Qualifications

I have just completed a three year Undergraduate BSc Degree in Equine Performance and Therapies. I graduated with a 2:1 and I passed all the modules with grades from B+ to C-.

The modules included Biomechanics, horse welfare, nutrition, therapies and sport diagnostics and many more and a dissertation on "The prevalence of Osteoarthritis in Western Disciplines compared to English Disciplines".

Duties of Current Occupation

I have completed a 3 year Equine Therapies and Performance Degree under the University of Northampton umbrella and graduating with a 2:1.

Equine Work Experience

I have around 2 years experience in Canada, 3 years when I was at Uni. I wasn't brought up around horses but I am confident around all breeds. I worked on a livery yard for an X Olympic eventer who had 12 horses some of which were competition horse. I mucked out to a high standard, filled hay nets, helped with therapy treatments and used electrotherapy equipment, helped the vets as well as many other tasks, while I was doing my Equine Degree and was there for around 8 months. I spent over 2 years working in Canada on various horse ranches and farms, ranging from over 150 horses to 10 horses. I completed feeding and making feeds and filling water buckets, mucking out and poop picking, grooming, helping the farrier, turning out and rugging horses and anything else that needed doing. I also assisted with pony clubs, tacking up and untacking horses western and English tack. While at Uni I did practical's on the campus yard to put into practice what was taught us in lectures.

Specialities

I worked as a team leader on a retirement yard over in Canada, I was in charge of 4 team members being responsible for the day to day running of the yard

I can muck out to a high standard and keep areas clean and tidy, fill hay nets, prepare feeds, give medications and follow instructions. I can work independently as well as within a team. I am happy to get involved in everything and not afraid to get my hands dirty. I have some experience with helping with foaling while I worked in Canada.

Type of Ride Work

I haven't had a huge amount of riding experience. But I have ridden western and English so I am still a very green rider and have always rode "safe beginner horses". I rode in the Canadian mountains on a draft quarter horse and standardbred horses who were experienced riding in the mountains. I have also ridden within a arena and some experience out hacking.

I have helped with training of horses and have had experiences with lunging, ground work and long reining.

Competition Details

I do not have any competition experience but I have watched people complete.
