Equine Work Experience
I worked on a trail riding farm in Australia for a year with a herd of 50 horses and one cow. Taking tours through the rainforest and rivers as well as faster paced for the experienced customer. I was horse manager therefore planned the horse rota fas well as assigning tasks to a team of upto 11 multinational and varying experience levels. I taught basic riding lessons to the Staff with no experience as well as how to groom tack up etc. 4 foals were born during my stay as well as handling yearlings and up.
I also exercised 5 campdraft horses situated on a 21,000 acre property with sheep and cows. I was sole charge of horses and rode 3 a day. I also helped to muster the animals when needed and drafted the sheep. wormed, clicked and helped on shearing days.
I worked at NNWEC in galley common, another RDA centre for 3 years becoming team leader on yard. Stock management, staff rota creation, organisation and communication between yard and office.
Specialities
I am empathetic and am able to notice small changes in a horses natural behaviour. I have foresight so can organise and plan a day with good time management. I am capable of sole charge or working in a team. I am a lateral thinker with good logic and common sense. I can lead a team as well as taking direction. I am sensitive to human and animal needs.
Type of Ride Work
I have my level 2 riding - city and guilds however have a hyper mobile joint in my pelvis on left side and have been having pain in my seat bone and it sheers on my coccyx when riding so have stopped. Have seen an oesteopath who rebalanced me but not sure I want to ride as will just transfer.
Competition Details
I have worked with competition horses however I have not been to many competitions other than in my leisure.
