Equine Work Experience

I have worked with horses for over 15 years and previously completed a Level 3 Diploma in Equine Management at Sparsholt College (Merit Level). I've worked alongside Ben Leathers during work experience at Homelands Competition Yard and my first Equine job was at Meon Valley Stud during yearling prep in 2016.

Up until late I have been a yard manager on a private full livery yard tending to a handful of client’s lovely horses. I am currently working outside of the equine industry for a Payroll Company.

Specialities

I am hard working and have a great eye for detail, I’m never afraid to muck in and get my hands dirty. I use my initiative and complete jobs without the need to be prompted, I am used to having sole charge of a yard and am happy to do so. I love to learn and experience new things and adapt well to change. I am friendly and approachable, empathetic, have lots of patience and a great sense of humour. I can plait, clip/trim and turnout to a good standard. I also have knowledge of equine first aid.

Type of Ride Work

I have worked out of the Equine Industry for 4 years now but I am very keen to start working with horses again full time.

I can confidently ride young and experienced horses through all 3 gaits and practice schooling. Previously I have jumped up to 2’9 but after a riding accident I haven’t jumped since, however I am eager to relearn and build my confidence.

I love to hack whether it be on roads or in open spaces, alone or in company!

I can also confidently lunge and long rein horses.

Competition Details

I really enjoy showing and have successfully shown my home produced horses from yearlings. I have also successfully shown some of the horses from my time at college.

I have owned my 8yr old Welsh D gelding from a 10 month old colt and my 3yr old Welsh D gelding from a yearling colt. We regularly attend fun rides and exercise meets with our local hunt, but sadly I have no ridden competition experience due to the lack of having a horse to compete on, as they are still very green.
