Duties of Current Occupation
Working as part of a team, my duties are to ensure that the dogs are well looked after whilst in my care, keeping any nervous dogs calm ensuring that the dogs go out looking their best, this is done by making sure that I’ve listened to their owners
Equine Work Experience
Jody Sole Equestrian, Position held - Weekend Groom My duties are to ensure that all horses are maintained and well looked after. This entails ensuring that they have appropriate feed according to their needs and appropriate medication if they have specific medical issues. Ensuring that the yard and stables are kept tidy. Making up hay nets and horse beds, riding and ensuring that the yard is kept to a high standard
Hazlehurst Stables In order to gain riding experience and learning about horse welfare, at the age of 9, I was offered the opportunity to join this yard. I was taught how to look after a horse and undertook many of the above tasks and in return, was given free riding lessons. I absolutely loved going every Saturday and learning about horse welfare. I was taken on as a weekend groom in 2013 and given more responsibility which has not only helped me in my current job but also with looking after my own horse.
Type of Ride Work
learning how to ride the the way I have, I guess you could say I was thrown in the deep end! I went from safe ponies to breakers in a matter of months. I enjoyed it that way and it taught me that no two horses are the same! And by using what I’ve learnt I’ve been able to produce and bring on my own of the tract thoroughbred.
This is something that I’ve really enjoyed doing.
