Equine Work Experience

Au-Pair Groom JOB ROLE: From daily yard duties to exercising horse. Sole charge of yard and the main households childern (when their parents where away).

Livery yards JOB ROLE(S): Professional Groom and stand in Head Groom from time to time on professional livery yards. Used to the long days and hours. The daily duties have include horse care, general stable and yard duties. Exercising the exercise livery's horses.

Riding School JOB ROLE: Head Groom and Riding Instrutor The work involved all aspects of caring and looking after the horses, this includes mucking out stables, maintaining outside enclosures and schools, feeding, grooming, turning in and turning out. I aslo dealt with some of the clients organizing thier riding requirements, health and safety needs including the correct equipment, size of group and trekking or other riding details. Teaching clients how to ride from all ages from new to advance levels.

Specialities

I have been away from the equine industry for 8 years, which may have lead me to be a tad rusty, or slower than someone fresh out of college/younger. But, I have experience and sense of humour; I'm happy to be working part of a team or be in solo change of a yard. I've always taken pride with my work, from turning out to a high standard, to a clean yard. I have learnt; never trust a clean groom...I'm always covered in mud, bedding or hay before the first hour is over. So you can trust me!

Type of Ride Work

I have ridden all sort of horses; from green (youngster/off the track) to the old school master. I've never been phased by bucking, rearing or napping. Yet, these days, I believe the old school master, would be better suited since I don't believe I would bounce as I used to.

My experience during ridden work; (eg; treks) across the southern downs, throughout the woods, on roads and within arenas. I prefer to say I am a happy hacker, but I can happily school a horse in the arena.
