I first learned to ride at 12 years old and spent most of my teenage years riding and helping to look after friends’ horses or volunteering my time at local stables. More recently I have volunteered my time to help someone care for their 30 horses including mucking out, poo picking, grooming, tacking-up, leading and feed preparation tasks and also plenty of hay-net filling as well as keeping the stable yard clean and tidy. I have a genuine interest in the welfare of horses. A few years ago I got back in the saddle for the first time in years and had three months of weekly riding lessons which I extremely enjoyed but found that I missed being able to just care for and spend time with the horses.
