General yard work

I worked on a professional dressage/livery yard, also a show stud and a riding centre.

I worked at a show stud I gained experience with youngsters and stallions. The yard kept around 7 stallions and I was often left sole charge on the yard so was responsible for turning out/bringing in and mucking out the stallions. Most of the youngsters stayed in so I would muck out around these ones, however sometimes I was requested to go out to shows so would have to handle them whilst out and about. I pride myself on keeping a yard nice and tidy and am quick but thorough with mucking out.

I have mainly ridden dressage horses, either schooling or hacking. At the riding school I was often put on green or new horses to test them out before putting them in lessons. However I have never actually started a horse from scratch, or backed or broken.

I used to help prepare some of the dressage horses for competition and competed myself in low level dressage unaffiliated. I also helped prepare some of the show ponies and went to a few competitions with them.
