I am a motivated, friendly and responsible individual with a passion for horses and enthusiasm for picking up new knowledge and learning new skills. For several years I worked as an assistant manager at a riding school, working effectively both within a team and independently. While working at Ballyknock Riding School, I was keen to make use of every opportunity for training and advancement, and completed my BHS stages 1 and 2. I plan on continuing on this pathway when lockdown measures are eased, my aim is to achieve my teaching qualifications! I enjoy providing the very best care I can to the horses, having experienced caring for competition horses, family horses and the school ponies.

I have worked with a variety of breeds, including TB and heavy horses.

I am comfortable in a position of sole responsibility, having experience in said role.

I am competent and comfortable in all yard chores.

I have a small degree of experience with veterinary procedures such as administering intramuscular Flu and Tet injections, giving oral worm doses, applying poultices and bandages, assessing horses for lameness, caring for horses with mild colic and monitoring vitals.

I enjoy riding to school and exercise. I have ridden green horses, competition horses and am happy to ride a nice happy hacker too! In my previous occupation, I schooled the school ponies and exercised the competition horses. I am confident in my ability on the flat and to jump.

I am a competent at lunging and have achieved BHS stage 2 lunging as well as stable management and riding.

I have organised two dressage competitions for my previous employer and have had the chance to compete at a low level myself and have enjoyed some success. I have competed up to a novice level in dressage and meter show jumping. I enjoy cross country and have been lucky to ride some brave horses/ponies. I have started to enter working hunter competitions with my 5 year old mare which I am excited about!
